Rushi didn’t get things, like the rest of them did. It took her a good long while to ever understand the simple stuff, like when someone died. She would just ask when they were coming back, before it finally hit her and she wept. She had trouble understanding set things, like rules, and always wanted things to change. She never understood that some things just were or had to be.

Overall, Palaton found it heartbreaking. But he always had to smile when she finally understood, and started giggling, over a joke one of them had told and forgotten weeks before.
